Children of all ages and their families are invited to hear a free reading of the book Ginger Finds a Home, written and illustrated by Charlotte Voake, followed by a discussion of the relationship between people and pets. After the reading, children can participate in a fun and creative art project related to the story.
This monthly story time event is part of the Humane Education Ambassador Reader program – an initiative of Sacramento-based United Animal Nations to help children develop critical thinking skills and foster empathy toward animals through stories and discussion. In Ginger Finds a Home, a heartwarming friendship grows between a little girl and a stray cat. As the cat learns to trust the little girl, he quickly adjusts to his new life as her companion.
