Children of all ages and their families are invited to hear a free reading of the book Max Talks to Me, written by Claire Buchwald and illustrated by Karen Ritz, followed by a discussion of the relationship between people and pets. After the reading, children can participate in a fun and creative art project related to the story. This monthly story time event is part of the Humane Education Ambassador Reader program – an initiative of Sacramento-based United Animal Nations to help children develop critical thinking skills and foster empathy toward animals through stories and discussion.
