The UC Davis Vet Blood Bank is seeking canine blood donors! We are a non-profit, community-based blood bank, the only one of our kind west of the Mississippi.

The summer season is here and we are seeing an increased use in blood products! We need your dog to donate! Dogs use blood for all the same reasons humans do: blood loss due to surgery, traumatic event (ie: hit by a car) or loss due to blood disorders.

If your dog is: 1-8 years old, 55+ pounds, current on flea/tick/heartworm medications, and has never been pregnant, then he/she can become a blood donor.

This is a FREE service here at the UC Davis Vet Med Teaching Hospital. For every year that your dog is enrolled in the program, your dog will receive a full physical, $300 worth of blood work, and lots of treats AT NO CHARGE. Appointments run about 30 minutes, with the actual blood donation being only 5-7 minutes.

PLEASE CALL 530-752-1393 for appointments (monday-friday, 8am-5pm, option 0 on the automated message). WE ARE NOW OFFERING WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS.

Please email "caninebloodbank@gmail.com" for more information.

Save a life, donate blood!

Thanks!
