PLEASANT GROVE, CA, April 18, 2008 – On May 3, Performance Dogs in Action (PDIA) will be hosting their annual “Cinco Dog Mayo” Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering up lots of fun for dog lovers and their pets.

If you’ve ever wanted to try out your dog in agility, rally/obedience, herding, dock dog or lure coursing, this is the day to get your pet out and give it a try!

Located at 7089 Pleasant Grove Road in Pleasant Grove, California, PDIA offers agility, herding and rally and obedience lessons, and was the one of the top vote getters of the 2007 KCRA 3 A-List in Pet Training. PDIA is also home of Aussie, Sheltie and Border Collie Agility Champions and an All Herding Breed of America (AHBA) Herding Champion.

The “fun” fundraising event will help raise money for “A New Leash on Life,” a new program being offered by PDIA where dog lovers and their families who are coping with cancer can come and get away from their daily struggles and rediscover the joy and inspiration of a simpler life at PDIA’s 10-acre farm and dog training facility. Offered the first Sunday of every month beginning in June, “A New Leash on Life” is offered free of charge to cancer survivors and their families. If you don’t have a dog, that’s o.k. There are plenty of sweet and well-trained dogs at the facility to share a care-free day with you. “A New Leash on Life” offers self-paced activities such as a reflection path, water fun, and farm animal interaction.

“It’s so uncommon any more to find someone who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way… whether it be a sister, a daughter, a spouse, a father or a close friend,” said PDIA Owner Nola Jones. “I believe in cancer patients getting an opportunity to get away from their daily battle with cancer and get some unconditional love that is always so freely given by our dogs.”

At the Cinco Dog Mayo fundraiser, dog owners can test their dogs for the Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) for a fee of $15, or they can try their hand at agility, rally, obedience or dock dog. Tickets will be available on site ($5 per ticket/run or 5 tickets for $20). There will also be AHBA-sanctioned herding instinct testing ($45). The day will also include rescue groups, pet massage, toy vendors, grooming and a raffle.

So come out and enjoy the fun and help support “A New Leash on Life”!
