April 10-13 there will be major dog activities with two important AKC events at Cal Expo.
Thursday and Friday, the Northern California Terrier Association will hold formal conformation (Westminster Kennel-style "beauty" shows), obedience and other trialing events for all kinds of terriers. The most activity will be in the morning, with conformation finishing in the afternoon.
Obedience Trials are held in Building C, with other events in various locations around CalExpo.
On Saturday and Sunday, Sacramento Kennel Club will hold trialing events for all breeds.
Conformation classes begin at 8 a.m., Obedience begins at 9:30.
There are parking and entry fees.
It's a great chance to see all your favorite breeds, talk to breeders, see the grooming up close and watch the obedience and rally competitions.
Dozens of vendors will also be selling everything you could imagine ever wanting for your dog. Many of them offer custom items that are hard to find elsewhere.
Remember, while spectators of all ages are welcome, this is one occasion when your pet is not invited. Only dogs entered in events are welcome on the grounds.
