Want your dog to be a canine good citizen?
Then come to the Roseville Dog Owners’ Group’s Canine Good Citizen Clinic. While many organizations sponsor CGC tests, RDOG offers a CGC clinic to help you and your dog get ready for the test. Instructors will teach you and your pooch all the parts of the test. Attendance at both the clinic and the test is not required; however RDOG encourages all to enter both.
What is it? The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test is to demonstrate that the dog, can be a respected member of the community, and can be trained and conditioned always to behave in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs in a manner that will reflect credit on the dog. The CGC Test is not a competitive program, but rather a program of certification; it seeks to identify and recognize officially those dogs that possess the attributes that enable them to serve effectively as personal companions and as members in good standing with the community. Mixed and purebred breeds are eligible to participate.
Why should your dog have a CGC certificate? Upon passing the CGC test, you may order a certificate showing your successful completion of the CGC program. By having the certificate, many hotels, and restaurants, will allow your dog to stay or visit their establishments that they would otherwise not allow.
You may also order dog tags, bandanas, and patches to let people know your pooch is a Canine Good Citizen!
Most dogs and owners who go through the clinic, pass the CGC Test!
