For those of you who truly care for the welfare of all companion animals......not just your own personal pets......PLEASE take just a few moments to join others in sending an email to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors to urge its reconsideration of recently -approved adoption spay/neuter fee increases. These increases cause the county's adoption fees to greatly exceed adoption fees, for equivalent services, of either the City of Sacramento Animal Services department or the Sacramento SPCA. These new fees were established, at a public hearing, in the absence of any meaningful comparative adoption fee data (re these other two agencies) being provided by the County's Animal Control & Regulation Director.! [If you'd like to see a complete background discussion on this issue, just go to the blog posted yesterday, Sept. 9, on this Sacpaws.com site: STEEP NEW COUNTY ADOPTION FEES = MORE KILLING" (posting by advocate4SN)]
These inordinately high county adoption fees will cause many more animals to have to be destroyed than otherwise would be the case. And, pet owners who have been forced to reliquish their pets becasue of the bad economy and/or home foreclosure crisis, will have the additional trauma of realizing the increased likelihood that their relinquished pet(s) will not be adopted. Hopefully, if they MUSTrelinquish an animal, they'll consider a shelter, which through its fee policies, demonstrates a much more compassionate and understanding environment.
To facilitate sending your email, please refer to the above blog for the email addresses of the 5 board members (one email could be simply addressed to all 5 in the 'Send to' box). Use your own wording or, if you prefer, a brief message that you could use is also shown on the blog.
Thank you... most sincerely
