About Pamela
HI, I have a passion for animals. I am the Rescue Chair for the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc. and the Petite Equine Association, Inc. The first is a dog club and the second in a miniature horse club. I have an extensive background in both dogs and horses. My passion for rescue is funded by various activiities/fundraisers and donations. FUN I am training with my male Great Pyrenees, Wager in freestyle dancing with dogs. It's great fun and a big dog like Wager, helps me to get my workouts every Monday night. I also enjoy pet therapy and am a tester/observer with Therapy Dog, Inc. I even have a mini horse that is house broken and visits at skilled nursing facilities right along with our dogs. I think she (Sweet Pea) suffers from an identity crisis, because she believes she's a big white dog. WORK The more serious side of me has me working as a Director for the San Juan Water District. I am also Chair of the Sacramento Ground Water Authority (SGA) and am a Director on the board of the Regional Water Authority (RWA). I was elected 4 years ago and will be running for re-election again this year. I am also a Realtor (check out my Realty web site link), and a very good one too. I work as a Realtor to help support the animals I rescue because the number of rescues we have far exceeds the club funds it takes to rescue them. So, to say my life has truely gone to the dogs (and to the horses), is a masterpiece of understatement. RescueRescue is a job that is always thankless, difficult to do even on good days, heartbreaking each and every time you do it, and financially draining on a continuous basis. But, the most rewarding experience you will ever have is in the eyes of a dog that shows you every day how grateful he/she is because you saved him/her from being thrown away, starved, abused and nearly killed. Who I Work ForI help the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Rescue and Petite Equine Rescue. We are located in Northern California and we rescue abused, unwanted Great Pyrenees and miniature horses. In our program a dog that is retrieved from a shelter or other agency or an owner turn-in, is restored to health, neutered, brought current on all shots and worming and is microchipped. Horses are restored to health, brought current on all shots and wormed and stallions are gelded with mare's engaged in a non-breeding contract. Adopting a new friendThe dogs and horses are ONLY placed in pre-qualified homes which involve an applicant filling out a "Home Evaluation" form and then a cover sheet explaining the adoption process is provided. Three references will be requested and then a home study will complete the process. Adoptive families are given a one year membership to the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club or the Petite Equine Assoc., Inc. and the rescue chair becomes a resource for that dog or horse for its lifetime. Upon adoption the adoptee signs a contract with the club, agreeing to return the dog or horse to rescue should life take an unexpected turn or it simply doesn't work out. The adoption fee is usually $300 for the dogs and $450 for the horses. The donation fees help to offset the expenses (because no one gets rich doing rescue) and is used to help perpetuate the next rescue dog or horse that comes into the program. Come Visit Us!In order to visit the dogs, please call and make an appointment. Our kennel is a private kennel and is not a public kennel. http://search.petfinder.com... Thank you and please remember these animals in your prayers.
