Pet Project Contest Rules
1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. Contest open to California residents 18 years of age or older. Contest begins on May 27, 2008, and ends June 17, 2008 ("Contest Period"). Contest is sponsored by The Sacramento Bee ("Sponsor").
2. ELIGIBILITY: Employees, shareholders, officers, directors, agents, representatives of Sponsor, and their immediate family members and those living in their household, and each person or entity connected with the production or administration of the Contest, and each parent company, affiliate, subsidiary, agent and representative of any aforementioned entity are not eligible.
3. HOW TO ENTER: Entrants must post a photo and short description about 'how your pet got its name' on SacPaws.com during the Contest Period. By posting such a photo and description during the Contest Period, entrant is automatically entered into the Contest. All entries become property of The Sacramento Bee. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PET. All entrants submitting an entry hereby agree and consent, without further authorization, compensation or remuneration of any kind, to the use of their name and/or likeness and their entry in any and all advertising, promotions and other publicity conducted by SacPaws.com, The Sacramento Bee and their respective parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, except where prohibited by law. Contestant represents and warrants that he or she has full ownership rights to the entry submitted and that publishing of that entry shall not be in violation of any trademark, copyright, proprietary or other right of any person, firm or corporation.
4. SELECTION OF WINNERS: Grand Prize winner will be selected by The Sacramento Bee. A contest selection committee comprised of staff from The Sacramento Bee will review all entries received during the Contest Period and will select a Grand Prize winner by June 20, 2008. Decisions of the selection committee are final.
The selected entrant will be required to respond (as directed) to phone and/or e-mail notification within 72 hours of attempted notification. The failure to respond timely to the notification may result in forfeiture of the prize and, in such case, Sponsor may randomly select an alternate entrant from among the remaining eligible entries. Each selected entrant may also be sent a declaration of eligibility / liability / publicity release ("Release"). Unless restricted by law, the Selected Entrant will be required to complete and return the Release within the time period specified therein. The prize may be forfeited and, in such case, an alternate selected entrant may be randomly selected from among the remaining eligible entries if the Selected Entrant: (i) cannot be reached; (ii) fails to provide all necessary signatures on the Release and to return the documents in a timely manner as required pursuant to these Official Rules; or (iii) cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason.
5. ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning depend on total number of entries.
6. PRIZES: The Grand Prize winner will receive a $100 gift card to Western Feed & Pet Supply. No substitute prize will be awarded, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. The prize is non-transferable to any other person, including relatives or friends. Winner is solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes and any expenses associated with the Contest, unless otherwise indicated.
7. CONDITIONS: Contest is subject to these Official Rules. By participating, entrants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsors which shall be final and binding; and (ii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules, except where prohibited by law. By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees to release Sponsor, together with its directors, employees, officers, licensees, licensors and agents, including without limitation, their respective advertising and promotion entities and any person or entity associated with the production, judging, or administration of the Contest (collectively, the "Releasees"), from any and all claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the Contest or with the acceptance, possession or use of any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light). This Contest is void outside California, and where prohibited or restricted by law, and subject to applicable federal, state provincial and local laws. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or violating these Official Rules. The Releasees shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, stolen, misdirected, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible entries, communications or affidavits, regardless of the method of transmission; (ii) telephone system, telephone or computer hardware, software or other technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iv) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of a prize, or from participation in the Contest; or (v) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Contest.
Sponsor disclaims any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Contest, and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor's control, corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the Contest. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines such entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or any other unfair playing practices of intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other players or Sponsor's representatives. Disputes regarding these Official Rules and/or this Contest will be governed by the internal laws of the State of California with the exception of its choice of law rules. Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with this Contest must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction within the United States.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR INTERFERE WITH THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
8. All entrants submitting an entry hereby agree and consent, without further authorization, compensation or remuneration of any kind, to the use of their name and/or likeness and their entry in any and all advertising, promotions and other publicity conducted by SacPaws.com, The Sacramento Bee and their respective parent, subsidiaries and affiliates, except where prohibited by law.

10. All Entry information collected in connection with this Contest shall be accessible by SacPaws.com. Such information may be used by SacPaws.com to contact each entrant directly with marketing or other information. By participating in this contest, each Entrant hereby consents to such use, consistent with its privacy policy, which can be found at www.sacbee.com/privacy.
