Jun 17, 2008 at 05:06 PM : My little pup, Cooper,...

My little pup, Cooper, is a testament to all the great things about small dogs. He's adorable, fuzzy, cuddly, has more personality than his little body can hold, and fits perfectly everywhere--in my lap, on my bed at night, in the front passenger seat of my car while he (tries to) stick his head out the window to catch all the fun smells whizzing by, under my desk at work, in a dog bag (but I wouldn't subject Cooper to that humiliation!), and especially in my heart. The truth is Cooper is really a big dog in a little dog's body, but he would be the perfect pup no matter his size!

By the way...Cooper was adopted at a local animal shelter. You really can find great dogs (mutts and pure-breds!) at the animal shelter; Cooper is definitely proof of that!

Jun 18, 2008 at 09:06 AM : Small dogs rule is a...

Small dogs rule is a fact first and foremost, so lets just get that out in the open. I say this in the meaning of if there is a small dog in your household along with bigger dogs, who is the ruler?
YEP with out a doubt the small dog. Even if your small dog is a visitor in a big dog house, smalley still rules. It goes against all doggie respect as usually the oldest is the ruler, but when a small dog comes in the mix, all that goes out the window.
Many a different size of dog I have had in my lifetime thus far; a chocolate lab, a basset lab mix, a rottweiler boxer mix, a red nose pitbull, a wire haired terrier, and these days a long haired jack russell. Having JLO in my life affirms to me that having a small dog is FANTABULOUS!!! No more smushed legs when on my lap, no more back aches when its bath time, no more huge bags of dog food, no more scared kids and family, no more super sized poops!
Now it is more room on my bed, more lap time, more shampoo to last longer, more money for me to eat :) And more visitors both human and four legged friends because not only is my little dog a calmer jack russell but she is very chill and social with EVERYONE.
Regardless of each of our dogs size they are all our lil buddies that hold a huge place in our hearts even after they leave our side.

There are many reasons why small dogs rule. Here are just a few:

They don't smell as pugnant as big dogs
They can watch a movie with you while sitting in your lap
They can expend their energy quicker than big dogs
Easier to give them a bath in the sink
They don't need as much food, so they're a money saver
They live longer than big dogs
    You can pick them up
Small dogs, small land mines (poops).
