Bat or Rats or Both - My Cat Jon Jon Likes Melons - Barb111's Blog - SacPaws.com

I have been spending outdoor time with my boys Jon Jon and Percy every night around 7 7:30 . I noticed Jon kept looking up at the sky the more and more it got dark. We have a big Palm tree in the flower bed and he looks in that direction a lot. The Palm needs to be cleaned up it has dead palms that need to be removed(hopefully a project that will happen soon); I was told that rats and spiders and creepy crawly things hang out in those dead palms, great! So I was wondering if he is mesmerized with the rustle of rats in the tree. I haven't seen any but that doesn't mean anything. Tonight I was out there with him on the grass and it was getting pretty dark and I heard bats. I never new what bats sounded like until a friend of mine and I were sitting out one night and she said "hear that" and it was a distinct noise, one I hadn't heard. But I still wasn't convinced she had been known to "pull my leg "before. So to convince me she wasn't joking around, she said look up in the sky, just when it is still light enough to see, and when I hear the noise. So I did and guess what there they were, bats, to my amazement (mostly because she wasn't messing with me). I live near the river now and did at that time and I am told its easier to see them, the bats, if you live near the river. So tonight as Jon and I were hanging out on the grass and I heard the bat noise I couldn't see them, but Jon Jon sure hears and sees something. I would prefer bats because I know they are just passing through but the rats there a little to close for me but not Jon Jon he loves to look up and stare at the sky or tree. I am sure he is pretending that he is the great orange tabby waiting for his next conquest. After all, bugs get boring after awhile.
