Mistaken idenity? - It's What I Do - Acadius's Blog - SacPaws.com

It's been a dull week when it's come to trapping; with the weather being cold, the kittens have been bunkered in and not taking the bait.
So, I figured that I would tell one of my past tales that I recently told a group of friends. It's funny...From a certain point of view.
This happened about three years ago at the former Sunrise Drive In, I've had a lot of adventures there. So, one night I set out to do some feeding but I also had plans to meet up with some friends afterward for a formal gathering.
I was dressed in dark slacks and a dress shirt with some dress shoes and set out for the site. The feeding station was located in the far back of the drive way where there was no light and a lot of dirt and mud so it's understandable that I would wear rubber gloves and shoe covers, the type that a doctor wears over his sneakers at a hospital.
Now, with that image in mind, I went to the back of the drive in and fed the kitties with a flashlight and shovel. Wait, why would you bring a shovel, you may ask. The shovel was for some large rocks that were partially submerged in the hardened dirt and I needed them for a landscape project that I was working on.
I dug up some of the rocks and placed them into the trunk of the car I was driving. I couldn't help but giggle as I thought about if a cop were to drive back there and see me dressed up as I was with a shovel covered with mud.
Shortly later I had arrived at the second feeding site with my gloves and shoe covers still on. I got out of the car and saw that there were a couple teen-aged guys who thought they were tough while waiting for mommy to come and get them.
I never feed a cat station while people are around (I've stated this before but one more time doesn't hurt). I'm standing outside of my car and my phone rings, I answer it while facing the two guys and I can see that they were sizing me up for one reason or another.
I had been on the phone for a good twenty minutes and by the time the call ended, these guys were still standing there with the Neanderthal expressions.
I could hear them talking about me every other sentence but couldn't fully understand everything. What I did understand was, "I wonder if he has a body in the trunk."
At this point I was getting impatient since I was anxious to get to my little friend gathering. So, I did what I thought would get these guys away from my cats.
i got the shovel from the trunk of the car and leaned it against the car. I then folded my arms and leaned myself next to the shovel. With a smirk and my head cocked, I stared at the guys who were beside themselves and ghostly white.
The two of them mumbled while looking at me and then walked away, quickly, I might add.
I fed the cats knowing that they were safe and secluded for another night. To say the least, I removed the rubber gloves and show covers and was looking in the rear view constantly for potential police activity.
When I told the story later that night, one of my friends nearly spat wine from her nose.
