Ruby and her bladder
After spending enough time with our canine kids, you get to know their behaviors pretty thoroughly. As I blogged a few days ago, Miss Ruby was showing symptoms of another bladder infection....lethargy, dragging her booty, peeing more. The telltale sign was having her wake me up like clockwork between 2-3am the last few nights to go out to pee. Usually she sleeps through the night and is often a total slug in the mornings so I knew it was probably another bladder infection. The vet confirmed it and now we're on a 10-day course of antibiotics. This is the third infection in the past year which is most likely from a bladder stone that was found on a CT scan last summer while we were in Sacramento. I think it's time to explore the possibility of having the stone removed since its presence will only continue to aggravate Ruby's bladder. In humans they can use laser lithotripsy to break up stones which is very effective but I'm not sure that's an option with dogs. Better do my homework.
