Snail Bait Danger.. Please Read

Spring is here & we will be doing yard clean up and preparing for summer. It's the time of year a lot of people use snail bait. Most snail bait products are poisonous to our pets & can/will cause seizures & tremors. Should you suspect your pet has ingested snail bait or is showing signs such as shaking, tremors &/or seizures call your veterinarian or local emergency vet ASAP !!!! The sooner treatment begins the better chance you have of saving your pet. There are snail bait products on the market that are "pet safe", please read the labels !!!!! I work at a local 24 hr emergency vet hospital and we will see snail bait cases almost daily when spring comes & the weather gets warmer. Just trying to prevent anybody from going through this and possibly losing their beloved pets... Take Care.....Gail
Hello All, Please make sure that all of your pets have an ID tag/collar &/or a microchip. Also make sure that your microchip info is up to date. You can call the company where the microchip came from and update your address & phone # etc. Too many times I have seen animals in need of emergency care & we can't find the owners. Your pet having an ID tag or up to date microchip can make the difference. It's the right thing to do..... Just a few things to watch out for in your yard this time of year ~ snail bait, gopher bait, cocoa landscape material ~ walnuts, peach pits ~ pools & spas ~ ponds/pond chemicals ~ rat bait ~ Be careful using topical flea products. Make sure you are using it properly & best to go with a brand recommended by your veterinarian ~ Foxtails & other lovely little weeds that can get in your pets eyes & nose ~ Fertilizers, weed killers ~ Get rid of any standing water. You don't want a mosquito breeding ground, as heartworm is transmitted by infected mosquitos. ~ Check fences for loose boards, nails etc. You don't want you dog getting out or injuring themselves. I hope that you find this helpful & hopefully helps prevent some of these accidents from happening. Working at a 24hr emergency veterinary hospital, I have seen all of these things occur.
