I just want to thank the SacPaws community for your support as I grieve the loss of my Brandy and observe my other dogs' deal with her absence. Thank you.
I just returned from taking Brandy to the City Animal Services and having her put down. I am crying and a bit of a mess, but I want to commend the workers there for their kindness and professionalism. I also want to thank the ladies in the waiting area who offered me tissues and a hug. I am not happy with this decision, but I've prayed about it and believe it was the correct one. Thank you for your support. By the way, the City Animal Servicess tdo a great job they take donations and, like all services, need all the support they can get.
I am taking my beloved Ginger Brandy to be put down today. She is 10, lame and riddled with tumors, tags, and growths. She is a beautiful Brindle Boxer. I will miss her and have doubts that this is the right thing to do right now, but I can't stand to see her unable to walk without doing the splits and straining to pick herself up. Her teeth and gums are septic and she can't hold any weight even though she eats ALOT. I am putting off taking her to the car and driving to the City Animal Services center because I just can't quite cope as yet. By the way, the city charges $30 to euthanize your dog. My vet quoted me more than $224, not including "consultation". Needless to say, I will look for a new vet before my other two Boxers ever need care or termination of life.
