Exciting News! SacPaws' users can now find themselves in the Bee's Saturday Home and Garden section every week! Just post a photo of your pet in the SacPaws photo section and if your picture is picked, we'll contact you for your permission before posting your photo. Fido could be famous sooner than you think!
Happy Posting! It's camping and hiking season (well, arguably every season is camping and hiking season...!) -- perfect time to pack up the car, round up your dogs and hit the great outdoors. Here are some top tips for camping and hiking with your four-legged friend: Camping Call ahead to find out if the campground you are visiting allows dogs and learn their rules. Try to get a site with some shade for your dog. Keep id tags on your dog. Add a temporary tag with campground and lot number. Leave a persistent barker home with a sitter. Bring an extra tent and dog bed or sleeping bag in case it gets cold at night. If staying near water, swimming or boating, pack a life jacket for your dog and a towel to dry off. Don’t give you dog water you wouldn’t drink yourself. If you plan a long hike, condition your dog gradually ahead of time to endure the long distance. Stay on the trail – pets should not run off.
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Head out to the first annual Pet Expo at the Sacramento County Fair!
Located at Cal Expo, this exhibition features specialty retailers, information booths, non-profit organizations and a stage, where pets get the star treatment. Headlining is the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Team, a nationally renowned group who have performed on TV, at sporting events, festivals and theme parks. It's bound to be a paw-tastic event! And best of all, it's FREE! Click here for details.
Here at SacPaws.com headquarters, we still get emails every week from people asking if we'll post their information to our site. Sometimes it's an event. Sometimes it's a story. Other times it's a problem they're having with their pet and they're looking for answers.
