Check out my photos of Sammy The White Schnauzer and his costumes (he had 2) and Bridget the Queen of the house and my cousins heart. Bridget is a big beautiful Air-dale and my babies Jon Jon and Percy (they aren't the best at being dressed up but they tolerate it for mom.My boys like looking out the windows and watching all are Halloween decorations we have Ghost hanging around in trees, Pirate Ghosts bats pumpkins Lights so they get a lot to look at
A few nights this last week its been hard to take Sammy out for his last potty time. Sometimes he seems like he is scared of the dark. But the patio is lit and the other part of the yard is lit. There is a little corner that kind of goes in deep that isn't well lit but I have a flash light and I use it if I sense its going to be one of those nights where he seems scared or reluctant for some reason. The only thing I can think of is that he might smell some type of critter and we have all kinds. Maybe that might scare him, don't know but makes it very hard to get him to go and he is a stubborn little boy. The nights I have trouble with him he will whine to go out late and then he runs out and right back in. I don't get it sometimes he goes right out with me and other time not. Any schnauzer people out there with similar problems or people who live in areas with lots of wild critters around who have had the same problem??? It only worries me because if there is another critter out there I don't want Sammy to get hurt. If its him just being stubborn for some reason well thats Sammy!!!
Just to remind you Sammy isn't just turning into a couch potato who loves TV. He still has his many other interest. One would be walking. He loves to go for walks. This time I decided to take him for a few walks on the trails. Well of course he thinks its great. I am not so sure I do but he definitely does. Sammy has been trained to walk without pulling etc... but it has taken some time. But when he gets on the trails all bets are off he forgets his training. lol He definitely gets over stimulated which throws him off. There are just too many things to see (close up too) like squirrels running around playing and chasing each other, birds flying around and singing,people jogging by, people walking their dogs; just way too much its like information overload when he gets on the trails. He has squirrels and birds around in his backyard but not as close up by the time he runs up to chase them. So we are working on being able to walk on the trails like a good little boy just like when he walk around the neighborhood. So far its been hard and he's not quite there but I wont give up. He also seems to get tired out faster but that might be all the excited energy thats running through him. I have faith in him he will learn he is a very smart boy after all.
I was trying to find a show for Sammy one day and there was this great one about a Hippo. It was a story of this hippo,I think her name was Jennifer. Anyways I thought oh he won't like this it might remind him too much of alligators or anything in the water he isn't really into but I started watching it. (very interesting story) And who comes running up to the TV at first barking and jumping up and down yes you guessed it Sammy. And boy was he excited! I couldn't believe it he did not want to leave the show he sat there and watched the whole thing. It was about this Hippo,Jennifer I think,who was raised by this couple since she was a pup. They lived like out in the I guess where hippos are,had a house, a dog(who slept with Jennifer the hippo) you know lived somewhat normal except for the area and the fact that they had a hippo for a pet. They had the land and water etc... to accommodate Jennifer and she appeared very happy and comfortable and loving. It was pretty impressive and very interesting obviously interesting because Sammy couldn't take his eyes off the show. And he was really excited to watch it he kept looking back at me, as if to say,"isnt this cool".lol I love that dog!
OK Sammy and his t.v. habit. When my Aunt got home from her first trip I filled her in on Sammy's new thing,"watching television". And showed her the different shows and the channel he liked. She got a kick out of it. So one afternoon she was resting after her trip and was watching an old John Wayne movie. Well all of a sudden Sammy jumped on her ottoman and started watching the movie with and not just for a second or two but for the whole movie. She was amazed so was I that was his record for longest time. Apparently this movie was filled with horses and it kept him glued to the tube. Horse are one of his favorite animals. Least liked would be crocidiles or crabs or alligators at least for now.
Well I am back babysitting Sammy!!! He and I have been roomies for the last 2 weeks and he is a handful as usual. I have never met a dog that was so much work. lol That boy would have you going from morning til night and thats given the fact that he has mellowed. But I love him so its not work,lol at least not too much work. He has been his typical energetic self; "what can I do or get into" nothing too new there. And I did manage to keep him out of my suit case and no bra for him this time. We only have 2 more days together so I think I am in the clear. Though he did almost get my slipper but I was able to lock him in the room and get it out of his mouth and my slippers have not been in his sight since. lol He is a character and keeps me going. he is standing next to me now whining so I will be back with more tails after I see what he wants... Oh I found out about a few more t.v. habits of his...
We love Halloween at our house even JonJon and Percy. So we have started to get all our things out and decide how we are going to decorate this year. We went out and bought a few things today 2 of them being mechanical spiders. When e took them out of the package Jon love them he was trying to get them from us. So we put the batteries in them and you can either clap or say something and the spider drops down pretty quick I even jumped. Jon Jon rannnnnnnnnnnn soooooooo fast it was hilarious. Percy was like hey just another spider toy thing whatever. But I am afraid JonJon is a little shaken poor baby and this is just the beginning.
