Well I wrote a few days ago how Percy was; especially Percy was talking talking and talking. Meow this and Meow that and I couldn't figure it out. I think I might have the reason. We bought a new chair recently, a recliner to be precise and it was bigger or at least taller than the last chair. We also changed the furniture around and removed and added different pieces. Well that means the dreaded "CHANGE" and change in anyway even if he ends up liking it or at least getting use to it does not agree with Percy. Plus it meant changing his routine he liked to jump up on one of us and get his love and I knew he wasn't doing that but I thought it was because he was enjoying his new kitty tree and its location and he does but he also like his love. His time with us. Which involved hanging on the couch or chair and for some reason he didn't want to do that with the new setup of the family room. So now to get him use to it I pick him up and put him on me either on the couch or chair until he gets use to jumping up himself. (hopefully) Since I have been doing this he has seemed happier (he was getting a little depressed) and he isn't talking non stop. He still talks but his normal chatter. I hope this solves the issue. I just cant stand it when I know they aren't happy about something and I was starting to wonder if I should take him to the Vet. But I think we are back to normal. At least normal for us.
I met a woman over the weekend who is doing her part on helping the cat community. She takes in cats and adopts them out and has a also kept a few. Just recently she or the cat found her. The cat was barely an adult herself and had kittens. This gal took the mommy cat and had her fixed at the appropriate time and has 3 kittens left. She is at her limit and can not keep anymore and is having trouble adopting them out due to the overpopulation, I am guessing. She said she would pay to have the cats spayed or neutered. She asked me to spread the word. So I am I would take them but every cat I have tried to adopt my cats attack. And I try all the time. So I am passing her info on as she asked me to do and call her if you can help. Her name is Michelle Page she has 3 kittens Approx. 6 to 8 weeks old. Purrfect age and her phone number is (916) 508-6275. So even if you cant take one or all pass on the info you never know who might want a kitten especially one in need.
Lately my cats especially Percy has been sooooooooooooo vocal. My cats are pretty vocal anyways but lately its meow this meow that. I am pretty good at understanding them. Like talking because we just got home and they have missed us or chastising us because we were gone too long or they want to go outside always a big chat there. But lately its like Percy will sit there look at me and start meowing away. He isn't hurting anywhere,I always make sure and if his tummy is upset I know the symptoms but this is different its like he wants to chat. He will jump up sit there look at me and meow away and I will talk back. Ask how his day has been whats he been up to, did he pick on his brother, etc... and he will keep going. Its a crack up. I just wondered how many chatty cattys were out there let me know if your cat does the same thing. Just curious!!!
I was in a new small pet store the other day and was talking to the owner. She told me that the pet food Orijen for dogs and puppies had some fish bones (large) in their pet food. She showed me the paper she received from the manufacture stating what cans and the number of the cans that had the fish bones. But if you are using this brand check it out for yourself and either call or go to the pet foods website. I don't want to say anything against any product but I did see it in writing. So just wanted to pass it on in case there are people out there using this brand and in case this brand has a problem. I was asking for my aunts dog and thats how we started talking about Orijen.
This has notta to do with cats or dogs or anything of importance for that matter. But I thought it was interesting kinda funny and maybe healing for some people with bad feet if it ever gets to our neck of the woods. OK How about a fish pedicure? Yes you read me right!!! A salon in Alexandria,VA is now offering fish pedicures. You go in and stick your tootsies in a Bowl (no just joking about the bowl get it fish bowl) a container filled with nice warm water, filled with tiny little carp. The carp who thrive in warm water then begin to nibble on your toes, feet and take off your dry flakey skin. They do not eat your skin just the flakey stuff thats dead because they do not have teeth. According to the article this first started in Turkey and then Asian countries. If your interested in reading about this I found it on my comcast.net page but I am sure you can google about it also so what do you think---------interesting---would you do it??? I am open to new things I would probably try it from a reputable salon. They have to change the water each time and they store the fish in a large warm water tank. so the tiny little carp get a home and plenty of food and you supposedly get smooth feet. Hey sounds like a win win situation. LOL
Jon Jon has never liked garbage days ever since he was a little kitten which has been some time ago. But his fear is still here and seems to be worse. I keep everything all windows etc... closed so to block out the sound turn on the t.v. but he still hears it and he knows when its coming before I do. I only know because he starts getting jumpy. And the garbage isn't picked up early in the morning and they pick up the other can some times a lot later than the first can. So it seems like a half a day ordeal. I try to keep him busy when I hear it and play with him or hold him anything to get his mind off the DREADED garbage truck. If I could take him out in the back and play that would work but NOT he hears it coming from the he back yard. Its so hard to see him freak out and run under the bed or anywhere he can fit and wait it out but I am at a loss. My poor little baby and his phobias. He was abandoned by his mom and was the runt of the litter I'm sure. When I found him he was on his way to being Ferrel it took me way over an hour of laying on the ground so I could be at his level and talking to him to get him to come and he had a little eye infection too. But it was love at first site for me. So anyways I wonder if it stems from his very early years and being all alone and scared. I hope not I was wishing those memories were erased from his little memory bank. lol. But I will keep trying to distract him on the big bad scary garbage days.
Since I have moved the boys cat tree they have spent more time in it,playing and just watching all the things going on outside.(though it still doesn't seem to keep them completely entertained when I am away from home for a long time) I put the tree in front of the window so it is all window for them. As soon as the sun comes up I open up the blinds and the window and they love the fresh air. Their little noises start twitching back and forth when they start smelling the fresh morning air. The little birds are chirping away and the squirrels are chasing each other in the trees. I look at their eyes and wide with curiosity and I can tell they are very happy campers. Its sooooooo cute and they never tire of the morning ritual. Lol at least not so far.
I have heard about dvd's for cats and dogs that you can play for them when you are away from home. They have been on the market for sometime. I know some pet specialty stores that carry them but never tried them before I figured my boys had each other. But lately when I come home and I have been gone for some time they are so glad to see me (more so than usual) :) I wondered if they need some more stimulation, entertainment. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever used the dvd's for their dogs or cats and how they worked. ? Or if anyone has any other ideas I would welcome hearing them.
I was driving yesterday and had one of the local talk and news stations on. People still never cease to amaze me with their ignorance. The news person was talking about the local S.P.C.A. and the over population problem we are having with cats especially ,of course. So she goes on to tell this story of a man who walks into the S.Pc.A. with his children which is even more ignorant in my opinion. And he has a basket of kittens. He was asked about the kittens and he replied well I purposely had my cat have these kittens so my children could see the miracle of birth. But he couldn't keep them and was giving them to the S.P.C.A. Well the news caster and or the worker at the S.P.C.A. wanted to say to him let me take you in the back and lets show you and your family the tragedy of death. It still surprises me how stupid people can be I don't know why it still surprises me maybe because I would like to think that we are growing and maturing both individually and as a society but I don't know. Anyways the moral of the story basically don't be stupid spay and or neuter your animals we have a serious problem and don't get an animal if you cannot take care of it which includes spaying and neutering. There are many low and sometimes no cost spay and neutering clinics if money is an issue. I know all the people on this site are educated but if you know of anyone who isn't I wouldn't hesitate to educate them. I do and if they take offense too bad.
Jon Jon and Percy have always enjoyed their outside time anywhere between 6 and 8. But now JonJon wants to stay out when its dark . He tells me its the best hunting time. I have been working on the patio sometimes into the dark and Jon loves it he plays Kommando Kitty. He ducks in the grass, like no one can see him, ears flat, and then POUNCE!!! He has landed his bug!!! But it grosses me out and I just don't think its a good idea for him to be eating bugs. My partner says I am overprotective but I disagree. Anyways I also wonder about the mosquitos. I have heard they can hurt animals too so I really try to watch if the mosquitos start up and if they do I put him in but then I have to come in lol because he just stares at me from the sliding glass door and I can't bear it so I end up coming in too. I'm not over protective but maybe I spoil them---just a little. lol
So I went to my regular pet store and talked to a long time employer about the cat food that is now being picked up by a large retailer. This is what she told me she also used the same cat food and she had a concern also so she asked the rep.Whats up? Are we going to see any changes with the ingredients the rep of course said no. She tells us that she went to the web site and looked because they have to post any new ingredients and so far its the same. Also she said that if the company starts to repackage the food and the reps insist them taking new samples of the food and it goes into grocery stores then we probably have a problem and should look for new food. So I am going to keep my eye on it and go from there.
I did a a lot of research when we had the pet food scare and educated myself a little better on the best nutritional diet for cats and dogs. So I found a dry cat food that my cats liked and that met their nutritional needs. Now I hear that a large chain pet store will be carrying it and I think great. But then I hear from someone in the business and who is trust worthy that the brand I am using will most definitely have to start using fillers and what not when making there cat food instead of keeping it all natural and healthy. And supposedly she has had this happen with other brands she carried and the obvious reason they do this is because there is no way they, the cat food company could afford to keep the quality of the food and deal with the large pet food chain. So now I am going to try and figure this out see if they are reducing the quality of their ingredients and if necessary find another dry food that jon and percy will like and that will be good for them. Last time I bought their food the packaging had changed and this was before all the other things had come to my attention. I asked the person at the store if they had changed anything in their food and I looked at the ingredients but nothing had changed at least not then. Well it will be interesting and if I have to change then somehow it must be "meant to be" and the new food will be even better for the boys. I guess you just have to chalk it up to business but it still stinks and I don't mean the cat food!!!
I hope everyone had a save and fun Fourth of July!!! My boys however did not! No way Know how. They do not like loud noises and the new neighborhood we moved into loves the the holiday and there were fireworks abound. So we decided to turn up the t.v in the family room and in one of the bedrooms and make sure all the windows were closed to see if that would calm them down. The t.v being a little loud is OK its the unknown booms that do not work for them. It took a little while and I would come in and chat with them and reassure them everything was OK and finally about 45 minutes into it they calmed down enough. But I was a little nervous at first, my partner was getting a little touchy saying they will be OK blah blah blah. But I know my boys and they have lived in quiet neighborhoods when it comes to the Fourth at least not one that just about every house has something going on. Lol, this is a very patriotic neighborhood. Plus we heard there were going to be block parties. But all ended well and the boys were ok but glad when it was all over. |
