Well tomorrow we move and all is well with Percy. Go Figure... He was depressed a few days ago but now he is better. He gets nervous before a move or the vet but this last time he seemed to stay in it longer and it was beginning to worry me. When we first started bringing in the boxes and packing things up he had fun he was playing with the paper and the boxes he loved it and then boom,he became depressed. Well he really knows its time and he is back to normal though he will not like his car ride tomorrow but it will be a short one so both mother and son should make it through OK. When I have to take him somewhere he just howls and howls. He has his cage, his toys etc.. but nothing seems to calm him except if I can touch him, hold him, pet him but that isn't always possible if its just us. And sometimes that takes awhile and I have to remain calm or he will sense my uneasiness and then nothing will work. So all is better, Percy is good and Jon Jon is just waiting to explore his new place. And, well me, thats a whole other story but as long as there good thats more than half the battle.

My friend has a Husky her name is Kona, she is a female and recently my friends grandmother has come to stay with her and she has a small mix male dog. Well Kona is trying to be the Alpha dog my friend says and is being too rough with the little dog. Any suggestions out there on what my friend can do... ??? Has anyone had a similar experience? Needless to say it is upsetting the household, making my friend and her grand ma nervous, not to mention the dogs well being.

Well moving day is getting closer and Percy seems to be depressed. He is not acting himself which is understandable with the house being in chaos and he knows we are moving. But I never remember him like this he still eats and plays a little in the morning but he is not himself. Percy does not like riding in the car and he knows when we move he must ride in the car. So I am giving him lots of love assuring him we aren't moving far and he will love his new place which he will. He will feel better after the weekend when we are all moved in. Then he will scout out the place find his favorite places and claim them before his brother Jon Jon does. I am probably more worried than he is I know he is a very sensitive cat. Jon on the other hand is running around getting into places that have been otherwise occupied and generally being a little helper. He likes to help pick out the boxes, jump in them and out and in to make sure they are ready to be used the right size etc... He also loves to help with the packing paper and go through the closets and cupboards to make sure we haven't forgotten anything. Jon is now staring at me like shouldn't get back to packing and we probably should for now.

My cats Jon Jon and Percy love when we move. It means their favorite toys are all around them, boxes and newspaper. They literally have a chest(thats low to the ground and looks like a treasure chest) full of brightly colored mice, both large and small, balls furry and non furry, feathers with sticks on them, small stuffed dogs which they carry around etc... But nothing beats a box and some newspaper. They are in 7th heaven right now while we are pulling are hair out getting ready to move. As long as there happy though thats all that matters.

My Aunt who is the proud owner of Sammy and I am the proud cousin of Sammy,  are looking for a nice dog park we can take Sammy to so he can have a change of pace and maybe meet a friend or two. His backyard is like a park and he spends countless hours chasing the squirrels and birds and well if a cat jumps on the fence I am afraid he might lose his voice if we let him. He also loves to chase his ball and play with his many many toys. But like all of us he would welcome a little variety, so if there is anyone out there who knows of some nice dog parks preferably near Gold River, Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights and Carmichael please let us know. I know Sammy would appreciate it greatly.

My cats have this bad habit that quite frankly is a pain in the--------------. They want to drink out of a glass not there water dishes. I clean the water dishes at least twice a day and change their water if I think it s too warm but it doesn't matter. I have waited it out thinking they will drink when they get desperate but they are very stubborn and want to drink out of a glass. So I have given in and bought two glasses of there own,so far it has worked and they are happy with there own glass. I was wondering if anyone has had this same problem.

I have known that certain plants are or can be poisonous for cats. I found some that I will share with you. Some I already knew some I didn't. But my rule of the thumb for dogs and cats is when in doubt find out. So don't take  anyones word I would check with my vet. That being said here are some plants purported to be poisonous to your cats. Since summer is coming I thought I would share what I found out. Here is a list: ANEMONE,AZALEA,)(iwas surprised by that on),BLACK CHERRY,BLOODROOT,BUTTERCUP,CALADIUM,CASTOR BEAN, CLEMATIS,CROCUS,CYAD,DAPHNE,DELPHINIUM,DICENTRA,D IEFFENBACHIA,ELEPHANTS EAR,(another one that surprised me),ENGLISH IVY,FOXGLOVE,FOUR O CLOCK,HELLEBORE,HEMLOCK,HOLLY,HYACINTH,HYDRANGEA, INDIAN SPURGE TREE, JACK IN THE PULPIT,JERUSALEM CHERRY, JIMSON WEED, LANTANA,LARKSPUR,LIBURMUM,LILY OF THE VALLEY,LUPIN,MISTLETOE,MORNING GLORY,MOUNTAIN LAUREL,OLEANDER,POINCIANA,POINSETTIA,POISON IVY,POISON OAK,POKE WEED,RHODODENDRON,SOLANDRA,STAR OF BETHLEHEM,SWEET PEA,THORN APPLE,WISTERIA AND YEW. Cats are curious and maybe thats why they follow you to the bathroom. Well I am curious also; I have always  been curious as to why my cats follow me to the bathroom and want to sit in there when I am in there. Especially in the  morning but it can be anytime and God forbid if I shut the door, they will sit there and meow and meow until I let them in or I come out. Nothing is sacred in my home. I know dogs who also have this habit though they do not seem as persistent as my cats they still want to follow me or there owners who are my different family members into the bathroom. So anyone out there with why the bathroom and I know there are lots of people out there with he same experience.

I use to have nothing but girl cats. I didn't plan it, it just worked out that way. So this time around I have boy cats and its been my experience that boy cats tend to be less aloof and more needy than girl cats, which is fine with me. But it did surprise me,my girl cats were equally loving I mean I knew they loved me but they were more independent. My boys want to be in the same room with us all the time and demand attention. They want you to talk with them or at least listen. I think its adorable they have many expressions to go along with their chatter. And different inflections in there many meows. My girl cats didn't demand that much attention and they were quiet in comparison to these two. So I was wondering if it was just a male/female thing or just different personalities. Anyone who might have experienced this or has a theory let me know. I would  be interested in hearing from you.

I had a friend this week who had an awful scare with her cat, Asia. She came home to find Asia bleeding at first it appeared that the bleeding was coming from his rectum. But it was coming from his urine and he was dripping urine all over the place. So she rushed him to the vets where they proceeded to try and run a urine test. But there was too much blood in the urine so they had to keep Asia there for a couple of days until they could get a good test. Finally they got a good test and the vet said he had crystals and gave my friend medicine for Asia and told her that Asia would have be on Eukanuba Veterinary diets Low pH/S for the rest of his life. Asia is at home resting now. Thank goodness he will be alright !!!

Percy is my little healer. He has this wonderful gift. He knows when you are hurt. Percy knows when something on your body is hurting. It could be your stomach, shoulder, back, leg, hand, whatever it is he knows and goes and lays on the spot. If he can't lay on the area he lays down next to you and and places his paw on you and you feel better afterwords. You might call him a "Paws on Healer".

Jon Jon is such a loving cat. He follows me everywhere I go in the house. As a matter of fact he is sitting right next to me as I type this and watching. He is my editor. He always knows when I am getting ready to leave he will sit under the dining room table and stare up at me or he will curl up in what I call one of his caves and just look at me;I know he saying please don't leave, stay here and play or just hang out. And when I come home he is right next to the door with his brother  Percy. They are just chatting away at me,"where have you been?" Let me tell you all about  my day". Do you know what Percy did he pounded me on the head cause I wouldn't play with him or Percy will be chatting away do you know what Jon Jon did he knocked over the water dish and wouldn't play with me and pounded me on my head. They are both very competitive. I listen to all there woes and then I scoop them up and hug them and chat back at them and they seem to be pleased by this daily ritual. After we are done with this they run and eat and go potty and are ready to see what we are to do next.

Sammy is a character to say the least. He absolutely loves to play. His favorite toy is a ball on a long whip. He will play with that all day if you would let him. He has a big beautiful back yard and he considers it his and allows people to join him back there. But he will not tolerate birds or squirrels in his yard. Oh, especially squirrels!!! He has some quirks also he likes to eat bark and rocks. Not Good ! So if anyone has any suggestions on how we can help Sammy break these bad habits and save his teeth. Please feel free to share your comments, ideas.

I have two indoor cats and I want them to get more exercise, so I bought them each a harness and leash. Well needless to say they do not like walking with their shining new harnesses and leash. I have every toy under the sun to get them to play and they do but I feel they need more. They have a cat tree that they like and Jon is on it at least once a day but he doesn't always play. He sleeps or looks out the window. My other cat who is large but doesn't have anything wrong with him. He is just large and he has very good special food for large kitties. He will get on the tree periodically and sometimes he will play on it or play with his brother on the tree. But I know they would love to go out and walk if they would adapt to the leashes. I use to have a cat that walked on a leash with no problem. Anyone have any ideas or magic potions.

I have two  wonderful cats Jon Jon and Percy. Jon Jon loves fruit especially melons. He will be at the the other side of the house, sound asleep, and as soon as we cut open a melon he is at our side begging. He so persistent that he will put his paw on your plate and try to grab his own. So we gave him a little and he couldn't get enough. But I was concerned if it was healthy for him. So I got on the Internet and looked at various sites and found other cats who love melons. I found articles saying cats are not vegetarians. I found all kinds of articles pertaining to cats and their different food likes and dislikes. I asked a vet and although a little odd it was not dangerous. Which is good for Jon Jon he can enjoy his melon, especially cantaloupe, and the season is coming soon!!! I am interested in hearing from anyone else out there who has cats with special food likes, melons, apples grapes oh and he also likes peas but thats whole other story.
