Sammy The White Schnauzer Encounters an Idiot
Sammy my Aunts schnauzer and I were taking our usual walk but we had a friend with us Dawn. Dawn was a couple steps ahead of us as Sammy and I were turning the corner. When out of the blue a huge(like a pony) Standard Poodle mix came galloping towards Sammy and I at full speed. Dawn was yelling at the dog to stay back and I was scooping up Sammy and started to turn around so to make sure I could get Sammy to a safe place. We had no idea if this dog was friend or foe and didn't have time to figure it out. So the huge dog stops and starts backing up with my friend yelling at him to get and stay back. We saw a man getting ready for a bike ride and we believed the dog came from his house. But he looked up and did nothing so we thought it must not be his but as my friend started getting closer to his house the dog ran up to him and the garage which was open. Finally the man stood up and said, get this, in real snooty voice do you have a problem. Well, my friend proceeded to tell him our problem and that their is a county leash law not to mention the CC and R's. He didn't say a word to her,he just looked at this other woman who was kinda of standing in the garage and told her to put the dog inside and that was that no I am sorry nothing. Talk about an idiot he is a good definition of one. Sammy and I continued our walk and got his address and my aunt reported him to the appropriate person. Of course this isn't his first offense. But it was wrong people need to be responsible pet owners or not own pets. Sammy was a little shaken and I was livid but the important thing was no one was hurt.

I Have walked dogs of various sizes from childhood.  When I lived in Woodland, one of my dogs was attacked by two pit bulls who came from across the street and attacked him.  He was a lab mix 65 lbs.  My mom beat the dogs off of him with an umbrella-broke the umbrella but it cut off the attack.  The man finally got his dogs and put them inside and apologized.  I have had many incidents with people with loose dogs that watch as their dogs run up and start to fight with your dog who is leashed.  I was walking my two chihuhuas at the time with my two big dogs a few years ago in Ancil Hoffman state park.  There was a nice trail.  A man had a loose Rottweiler and yelled up to me,"He's friendly."  I replied," well mine are not since being attacked so many times-can you please get your dog and put it on a leash."  I picked up the two chis and held the bigger dogs back as best I could.  He finally came and got his dog.  Now I have three chis and when I walk them I carry a big stick, just in case.  You never know what might come bolting out of the bushes and I may not have time to grab them out of harm's way.
