Walky dog Bike Leash
Hello all,
Wanted To share a review of a great product i just got today. Its called Walky Dog. Its a leash for your bike that allows you to safley enjoy a bike ride with your dog.
Before I would simply use a regular leash. The problem with this is, most of the time sadie doesnt pull and is pretty well behaved on a bike ride. However occasionaly if another dog , cat or squrriel is close enough she will try and get it. when she pulls towards them it can be quite dangerous as with the leash in hand or on the handle bars she can cause me to loose control of the bike. This happened one day when a little Chihuahua came running up on us barking. Sadie darted in front of me almost causeing me to run her over with the bike. with a regular leash its hard to keep it short enough to prevent her from moving around the bike while also preventing her from getting scraped by the bike pedals.
Walky dog solves this. What it is, is a metel pole with a quick release that attaches to the seat post. On the other end is a short lead that attaches to the collar or harness of your dog. The Lead is spring load as to act as a shock absorber if the dog does pull. Also because its on the seat post, where most of your weight is, its harder for the dog to pull you. It also helps keep the dog right at your side which keeps her from moving in front of your tires or behinde your tires. The Pole has a quick release similar to whats on an air compressor and had a rubber handle so that when you get to where your going you can realese it and use it as a leash. Though it is still light it is metal and has some wieght to it. i say this cause God forbid but if your where by chance attacked by someone you may be able to use this thing like a club.
Anyway I used it today and i must say its absolutly a must have for the pet owner that loves to ride a bicycle. If not for the control than at least for the peace of mind that your dog is safley at your side. Heres where i ordered it. I was able to order it here the cheapest and the service was timely and helpful. Check it out.

Re: Walky dog Bike Leash
Thanks for the fabulous post. My wife and I are going to get one of these for each of our bikes/dogs. The pull us like huskies pulling a snow sled, but this would make biking with them a lot less scary and stressful because one of them always seems to try and kamakazi in front of our bicycle tires.

Re: Walky dog Bike Leash
i think if you use it for a small dog. you first see if your small dog can keep up with a bike even if you ride slow. they have small legs and cant take greater strides to keep up. they may even tire faster.
but speaking of small dogs i forgot to mention in the review. For me i think the leash is a little short. it bring sadie in a little to close to the peddles. To remedy this i use an old safty lead that comes with a flexi leash. this helped extend the lead. remember you dont want to much leash because this will defeat the purpose of the product. ive extended enough to let her run a little further from my side but not enough to allow her to move around the bike. I think it will work for any og if used right. for small dogs you will need to use something as an extension on the leash. But it is still an amazing product. wish i would have thought of it.

Re: Walky dog Bike Leash
Hi I have a small dog (westie) and we've used a Walkydog for 8 months and he loves it, so small dogs are fine with this. You can read more, see pics on my blog http://hubpages.com/hub/WalkyDogBikeLeash.
